Tizen SDK

For those of you who do not know, Tizen SDK is mobile application development platform that is used in a wide range of mobile, smart device, Smart TV, in vehicle entertainment, blue ray players, smart home appliances, and wearable technologies. Tizen SDK currently runs on MAC OSX, Windows, and Ubuntu operating systems.

History of Tizen SDK

Tizen SDK is currently governed by a Technical Steering Group including Samsung, Intel,  Fujitsu, Huawei, Intel, KT, NEC Casio, NTT DoCoMo, Orange, Panasonic, SK Telecom, Sprint and Vodafone, and others. The Tizen project was created to assist users with a seamless and consistent user experience across the many different smart devices we are connected to and rely upon within our daily lives.

The Tizen project was created within the Linux Foundation, it has it's own association that assists in guiding the Tizen project, while the Technical Steering Group decides predominately on what code gets added to the actual Tizen SDK code base. As the Tizen project as well as the Tizen SDK code origins are directly derived from Samsung's original efforts via the Samsung Linux Platform, LiMo project, into the Bada project, and ultimately the Tizen Project.The project has spawned and rapidly evolved into a much bigger and broader technological "picture",  hence the reason it is now a 
Linux Foundation based project guided by major corporations, scientists, developers, a professional administrative team, along with many other experts, consultants, engineers, and scientists.

In 2013, Samsung released the very first Tizen OS powered smart camera, the Samsung NX300M, a month prior to the highly anticipated TizenDeveloper Summit where the official launch of Tizen OS was released. Shortly after, the Tizen OS and Tizen SDK were available for purchase, with products such as the Systena 10 inch quad core tablet and the Samsung Gear2 smart watch, and the Samsung  Z1 and z3 smart phones all using Tizen OS and/or Tizen SDK as the primary operating system.

Overview of Tizen Integration, Features, Capabilities-

The Tizen OS offers a flexible application as well as a powerful suite of cross functional developer tools that are based on the native C++ frame work and with JQuery/Jquery Mobile. The C++ version is based on the Bada platform. Tizen offers the Tizen SDK developer suite which enables developers to use many common mainstream web, mobile, in home, and in vehicle software technologies and programming languages to create applications on a large number of compatible browsers and devices.

One of the main objectives of Tizen SDK is to provide a genuine multiple platform environment that is compatible with as many possible devices as possible, utilizing HTML5 as the proverbial “bridge”  to span the divide of all of the many different types of browsers, smart phones, tablets, other smart devices, in home smart technology, Smart TV’s,  In vehicle entertainment, so on and so forth.

The end goal for Tizen SDK is for people to have access to one platform that has the capacity and security to manage and integrate with the majority of all of the other platforms and programming languages of the many smart products in our current digital age.
